This short newsreel, produced for the home market, shows the final events of World War II, including the development and testing of the atomic bomb, the atomic bombing of Japan, the Japanese surrender, and the U.S. occupation of the Japanese mainland including Honshu, and the arrival of the U.S. Third Fleet in Tokyo Bay. The film not only includes the Japanese surrender on the USS Missouri (BB-63) in Tokyo Bay, the celebration in Manhattan's Times Square, and a parade in Red Square Moscow. Some of the people shown in the film include: Admiral William Halsey, Winston Churchill, Harry S. Truman, Stalin, Lt. Gen. Kawabe, Lt. Gen. R.K. Sutherland, Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces Gen. Douglas MacArthur, Foreign Minister Shigemitsu, Lt. Gen. J.M. Wainwright, Lt. Gen. A.E. Percival and Admiral Chester Nimitz.
